The first-ever “SoBo Photo Show & Contest” was a big hit at I Love SoBo Day on Sunday, May 7, at the Baltimore Museum of Industry pavilion. The display drew a steady stream of viewers throughout the event, and over 400 attendees cast votes for their favorite photo.
The Photo Show opened to South Baltimore peninsula residents of all ages in March. By the April 3 entry deadline, 28 SoBo photographers submitted a total of 49 photos. The theme of the show was “B’more Seen,” focusing on the places, people, and experiences that make this city special.
The SoBo Photo Show was organized by Peninsula Post staff photographer Mary Braman. SoBo residents Dan Strodel and Jim Peterson supervised the voting on SoBo Day. The SoBo Photo Show was sponsored by the South Baltimore United, Inc. nonprofit.
Celebrity judge Crystal Moll of the Crystal Moll Gallery reviewed the photos and selected the top three, which were announced on May 7. Also announced was the “People’s Choice” winner selected by SoBo Day attendees.
