Chalk It Up South Baltimore!

EVENT: CHALK IT UP SOUTH BALTIMORE! Sidewalk Chalk Challenge

WHEN: Friday-Sunday, May 1-3, 2020

WHERE: The sidewalks of our Peninsula, from Otterbein and Sharp-Leadenhall to Locust Point

WHY: To spread some happiness while we are social distancing

There has been a LOT of chalk creativity on the sidewalks of South Baltimore over the past few weeks. Next weekend is our chance to really show the City what we’ve got!

We’ve organized the Chalk It Up South Baltimore! Sidewalk Chalk Challenge to let our community shine. Inspired by the Enoch Pratt Free Library’s “Chalk Your Walk” event that starts May 1, everyone is invited to “write some encouraging words or fun pictures or games … be creative!”

It’s easy to participate in the South Baltimore Sidewalk Chalk Challenge, and it’s free! Join the fun. Here’s how:

  • Register by April 29 with an email to bmorepeninsulapost@gmail.com. Include your street address. The first 50 households to register will get a free supply of chalk that we’ll drop off on your doorstep.
  • Chalk your sidewalk any time between Friday and Sunday at 5 p.m.
  • Email us when your masterpiece is done, and we’ll snap some photos for a gallery on the Peninsula Post blog for everyone to enjoy. We’ll also post as many as we can on the ‘Federal Hill United’ Facebook group.
  • Post your own pics on social media with the hashtag #ChalkItUpSoBo.
  • If you’d like to let neighbors see your creation for themselves, we will post your address online so people can walk by. (We will only post your address with your written permission.)

Let’s celebrate our community by spreading some love!

And MANY thanks to the Key Group of Cummings & Co. Realtors for the chalk.
