
Spring may still feel like a long way away, but registration is happening right now for a wide range of spring sports and activities on the peninsula, from Little League to kayaking and swimming lessons. Deadlines are coming up as soon as next week for many of these activities.
Take a look at the descriptions and links below to learn more about these fun SoBo programs. There’s something for all ages and lots of different interests.

Little League Baseball
South Baltimore Little League offers co-ed baseball leagues and instruction for all skill levels, ages 4-16. Registration closes February 25 for the spring season; games start in mid-April. Ball fields are in Locust Point at 1101 E. Fort Ave.
Swimming
Swimming lessons for toddlers to age 4 and a swim club for ages 6-9 and 10-14 are offered at Digital Harbor High School (1100 Covington St.) by Life Saving Instruction. Classes begin February 27; the swim club starts March 8.
Spring Break Camp
City schools are on spring break the week of April 11, and Baltimore City Recreation & Parks is offering a Spring Break Camp for ages 5-12 at local rec centers with age-appropriate activities. Peninsula camps are scheduled April 11-14 at the Locust Point Recreation Center (1627 E. Fort Ave.) and Solo Gibbs Recreation Center (1044 Leadenhall St.). Registration is open now; space is limited.
Kayaking
The Canton Kayak Club offers members the use of shared kayaks around the Baltimore area, including from two docks on the peninsula at Nick’s Fish House and Tide Point. An “early bird” membership discount is available through March 1. The kayaking season usually starts at the beginning of May.
Sailing
From its docks at the Baltimore Museum of Industry (1415 Key Hwy.), the Downtown Sailing Center offers sailing instruction and access to sailing through a variety of programs, including junior day camps, adult lessons, and open sails. Membership discounts are available until March 1.
Kickball, Basketball, Soccer, and More
You name it, and Volo Sports likely offers it. The nationwide league sports company offers spring programs all over Baltimore, including several locations on the peninsula. Early spring options include indoor basketball at Francis Scott Key School, “cup-in-hand” kickball at South Point, soccer at Latrobe Park, and indoor volleyball at St. Ignatius Academy, to name just a few. “Early bird” discounts end on February 25.
