Friends and neighbors all around the South Baltimore peninsula will be outside on Earth Day weekend (April 20-21) cleaning and greening their streets and alleys. Why not join them and help keep SoBo looking sharp!
Volunteers are needed for a variety of activities all over SoBo. Below is a list for ways you can get involved.
Robert Baker Park Cleanup – Saturday, April 20
Spring cleanup of the park on Light St. at Key Hwy. begins at 9am and continues until noon. Activities include weeding, trimming bushes, and clearing vines. Tools are provided, but bring your own gloves. For more info, visit the Federal Hill Neighborhood Association website.
Neighborhood Cleanup – Saturday, April 20
The South Baltimore Neighborhood Association will be handing out free trash bags and tools at Cross Street Market from 10am to noon. A location for full-bag collection will be released soon (visit the SBNA Facebook page).
Street Tree Planting – Sunday, April 21
SoBo Green is conducting its annual tree planting and cleanup in several neighborhoods of South Baltimore. The group will gather at the St. Ignatius Loyola Academy blacktop (300 E. Gittings St. at the corner of Battery) at 9am and then spread out in smaller groups to plant 16 trees on multiple blocks. We usually finish by noon. Interested volunteers can sign up online. Locust Point Cleanup – Sunday, April 21
The Locust Point Civic Association is undertaking its annual cleanup of all the streets in their neighborhood from 2 to 4pm. Trash bags and tools will be available for everyone at the entrance to Latrobe Park.
